Nagendra (Nick) Setty is and has been an intellectual property trial lawyer for nearly 30 years. He has held numerous law firm leadership positions, including founding and managing an office and co-chairing an IP practice. As a partner in international firms Orrick, Fish & Richardson, and Jones Day, Nick was lead counsel in +200 IP cases, of which +20 were resolved in jury and bench trials in which Nick’s teams had a +90% success rate. Nick has represented clients, large and small, in a wide range of complex, technical cases involving semiconductor design, computer networking, wireless (e.g., WIFI, 4G LTE), smartphones, LCD TVs, pharmaceuticals and biotechnologies. 

For this body of work, Nick was featured or recognized in Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation, IAM Patent 1000, Managing IP, and Diversity magazine. Nick was Co-Editor for the ABA (American Bar Association) IP Section, writing a column on IP developments that published quarterly to 20,000 IP lawyers. He also spoke and wrote frequently on substantive IP trial and litigation topics for ABA, AIPLA, INTA, SABA, numerous state bar associations, and as a lecturer or adjunct at Emory, University of Virginia, UC Hastings, Duke, and NYU. He serves on the Board of Advisors for Emory Law School. Nick was named IP Lawyer of the Year (Washington) in 2016 and authored a chapter for a book on multinational patent litigation. 

Nick graduated with a law degree from Emory Law School, where he received the Peabody Award for Best Oralist, earned a Certificate in International and EC Law from Emmanuel College (University of Cambridge), and has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, also from Emory.

Before law, Nick was in medical school for a year (class president) before becoming a ski bum in Vail. Nick is a father of two and an avid photographer, traveler, and music fan.
